Bull Sharks
Bull sharks are the dominant predator in Orange Beach waters. Stocky, aggressive, and zero fear. We see bulls over 300 pounds in the channels between the sandbars. They charge baits hard and take line like they have a vendetta. Bulls are thick from spring through fall, with peak action during summer.
Blacktip Sharks
Blacktips are the most common shark along Orange Beach. Fast, athletic, jump on the hookset. They run 3 to 6 feet and hunt baitfish schools in packs. Excellent species for newer anglers because they are manageable but exciting.
Hammerhead Sharks
Great hammerheads move through Orange Beach waters during summer months, following the stingray migrations. A big hammerhead is a real target on the right day. They are smarter than bulls and more cautious on the approach, but when they commit, they commit fully.
Spinner Sharks
Orange Beach's clear water gives you a front-row seat to spinner shark aerial shows. Acrobatic fights that earn the name. Pound for pound, spinners fight as hard as any species we target. Common from spring through fall.
Tiger Sharks
Tiger sharks cruise through Orange Beach waters, especially during warmer months. 8 to 12 feet is common. Apex predators with thick bodies and powerful bites. Not every trip produces a tiger, but when one takes your bait, you remember the fight for the rest of your life.
Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks
Smaller but abundant. Sharpnose sharks are great for kids and beginners to learn on. Scrappy fighters for their size, plentiful, and everyone gets a chance to feel what it is like to hook a shark.
Peak Season: May through October
Water temperatures above 80 degrees bring maximum shark activity. Hammerheads, big bulls, and spinners are all in play. Prime time for Orange Beach shark fishing.
Shoulder Seasons: March, April, November
Blacktip and tiger shark migrations make for action during the shoulder seasons. Water is comfortable, weather is pleasant, crowds are thinner. Fall is underrated.
Winter: December through February
