Beach Shark Fishing FAQ
Everything you need to know before booking a guided beach shark fishing trip with Coastal Worldwide in Pensacola, FL. Can’t find your answer? Call us at (251) 689‑0309.
Beach shark fishing, also called shore-based shark fishing, is exactly what it sounds like. We fish for sharks right from the beach. Our guides deploy baits from kayaks into The Gulf while you wait onshore with heavy tackle. When a shark takes the bait, you fight it from the sand. It is one of the most thrilling fishing experiences on the Gulf Coast, and Pensacola is one of the best places in the world to do it.
The sharks we catch most often, like bulls, blacktips, and spinners, are all legal to harvest in Florida, though our crew is release-first. Protected sharks show up here too: hammerheads, tigers, lemons, dusky sharks, and the occasional great white. Those are kept in the water, photographed fast, and released without delay, exactly as Florida FWC requires. In January 2026 we caught and released an 1,800-pound great white shark from the beach. That one made national news.
Yes. Safety is our top priority on every trip. Our experienced guides handle all bait deployment and shark handling. We practice safe catch and release for conservation, and we follow Florida FWC regulations on every catch.
We release the vast majority of catches, including every protected species. Legal harvestable species like bull sharks and blacktips can be kept within FWC bag and size limits if a client specifically asks, but our team encourages release on every fish.

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome. Kids under 12 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Plenty of kids have caught their first shark with us, and we run trips with families all summer long.
Sometimes the bite is instant, sometimes it takes hours, and once in a while the big one shows up at hour seven. We work the conditions hard and put baits where the sharks are. No one can guarantee fish on a shark trip, but our hit rate stays high, and even a slow night usually still means a memorable night on the beach.
