Shark Fishing Perdido Key FL: Guided Land-Based Beach Trips
Perdido Key is one of the Gulf Coast's quieter shark fishing destinations. Less crowded than Pensacola Beach, just as productive, and right on the Florida-Alabama border. Coastal Worldwide runs guided beach shark fishing trips on Perdido Key sand year-round. Land-based. No boat. No seasickness. Family-friendly setup with kayak bait deployment 200 to 800 yards offshore.
The water off Perdido Key beaches holds bull sharks, hammerheads, blacktips, spinners, lemons, and the occasional tiger. Our crew has 12 years of experience finding them and putting your family in front of a once-in-a-lifetime catch. Five great white sharks have been landed from shore over the life of our operation. That number is rare anywhere on the planet.
USA Today named Coastal Worldwide the #7 best fishing charter in America for 2025, focusing on land-based shark fishing.
Perdido Key sits on a barrier island within the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The water structure here is productive: a fast drop into deeper water within kayak-deployment range of dry sand, consistent baitfish migrations, and minimal fishing pressure compared to busier beaches. The water temperature stays warm enough for active shark feeding most of the year.
Perdido Key also has less foot traffic than Pensacola Beach or Orange Beach. More space. Fewer distractions. A quieter experience overall while still putting your group in front of the same shark species.
Bull Sharks
Bull sharks are the most common big shark on Perdido Key trips. They run 4 to 8 feet, hit baits hard, and fight straight up. Peak bull action runs May through October.
Hammerhead Sharks
Great hammerheads patrol the deeper edges within kayak-deployment range. A 10-foot hammerhead from Perdido sand is a real target on the right day.
Blacktip Sharks
Blacktips are fast, athletic, and they jump. They run 3 to 6 feet and provide consistent action across the season.
Spinner Sharks
Named for their aerial spinning when hooked. The clear Perdido water makes the show spectacular. Pound for pound, spinners fight as hard as any species we target.
Lemon Sharks
Lemon sharks cruise the shallow sandbars during warmer months. Yellowish body, stocky build, hard pull.
Tiger Sharks
Tiger sharks are the apex predator on the list. Rare on any trip, but Perdido Key has produced tiger catches over the years.
Peak Season: May through October
Water temperatures climb above 80 degrees. Shark activity is at maximum.
Shoulder Seasons: March, April, November
Spring brings warming water and active migrations. Fall stays warm longer than expected, and crowds thin out.
Winter: December through February
Bull sharks stay active in cooler water. Our extended winter trips have produced our largest sharks.
- Johnson Beach (eastern Perdido Key): One of our core zones. Consistent shark structure, accessible, good current.
- Gulf Islands National Seashore access: Quieter sand, productive, beautiful coastline.
