Gulf Shores Alabama's beaches sit on a barrier island with productive sandbar structure and strong tidal flow off the Mobile Bay outflow. Baitfish concentrate close to shore, and sharks set up in the channels and along the sandbar edges. Public beach access is straightforward across Gulf Shores Public Beach, Lake Shelby area, and the Gulf State Park beaches to the east.

Bull Sharks
Bull sharks are the most common big shark on Gulf Shores trips. The Mobile Bay outflow brings nutrient-rich water past Gulf Shores, and bulls follow the bait. They run 4 to 8 feet on our trips, hit baits hard, and fight straight up. Peak bull season is May through October.
Hammerhead Sharks
Great hammerheads patrol the deeper edges within kayak-deployment range, following stingray migrations during summer months. A 10-foot hammerhead from Gulf Shores sand is a real target on the right day.
Blacktip Sharks
Blacktips are fast, athletic, and they jump. They run 3 to 6 feet and provide consistent action across the season. Great species for first-time anglers.
Spinner Sharks
Spinner sharks earn their name by jumping and spinning multiple times during a fight. Gulf Shores' clear water makes the aerial show spectacular. Pound for pound, spinners fight as hard as any species we target.
Lemon Sharks
Lemon sharks cruise the shallow sandbars during warmer months. Yellowish body, stocky build, hard pull.
Tiger Sharks
Tiger sharks are the apex predator on the list. They run 8 to 12 feet when we catch them from shore. Rare on any given trip, but Gulf Shores has produced tiger catches in our 12 years.
Peak Season: May through October
Water temperatures climb above 80 degrees. Shark activity is at maximum. June through August are our most-booked Gulf Shores months.
Shoulder Seasons: March, April, November
Spring brings warming water and active migrations. Fall stays warm longer than expected, and crowds thin out.
Winter: December through February
Bull sharks stay active in cooler water. Our extended 24-hour and 48-hour winter trips have produced our largest sharks. Winter is the great white window from shore.
We set up at public beach access points along the Gulf Shores coastline. Common zones include:
- Gulf Shores Public Beach: Easy logistics, close to vacation rentals, productive sandbar structure right off the sand.
- Gulf State Park Beach: Quieter sand, good water clarity, consistent shark activity along the second sandbar.
- Lake Shelby area: Less crowded, productive across all seasons.
- Eastern Gulf Shores toward Orange Beach: Strong sandbar structure, often the best option during peak summer when central Gulf Shores fills with vacationers.

Dusk-to-dawn or dawn-to-dusk coverage. Best for groups chasing the biggest sharks of the season or wanting the full overnight experience.
