Shark Fishing Gulf Shores AL: Guided Land-Based Beach Trips
Gulf Shores sits about 45 minutes east of our home base in Pensacola, Florida. Coastal Worldwide runs guided beach shark fishing trips on Gulf Shores sand year-round. Land-based. No boat. No seasickness. Family-friendly setup with kayak bait deployment 200 to 800 yards offshore.
The water off Gulf Shores beaches holds bull sharks, hammerheads, blacktips, spinners, lemons, and the occasional tiger. Our crew has 12 years of experience finding them and putting your family in front of a once-in-a-lifetime catch. Five great white sharks have been landed from shore over the life of our operation. That number is rare anywhere on the planet.
USA Today named Coastal Worldwide the #7 best fishing charter in America for 2025, with a focus on land-based shark fishing. Gulf Shores trips are a part of how we earned that ranking.
Why Gulf Shores for Land-Based Shark Fishing
Gulf Shores Alabama's beaches sit on a barrier island with productive sandbar structure and strong tidal flow off the Mobile Bay outflow. Baitfish concentrate close to shore, and sharks set up in the channels and along the sandbar edges. Public beach access is straightforward across Gulf Shores Public Beach, Lake Shelby area, and the Gulf State Park beaches to the east.
Gulf Shores is also a vacation destination with strong family infrastructure. You stay at a Gulf Shores condo, your kids swim during the day, and your group fishes the beach for sharks. We meet you at your beach access. We bring the rigging. You bring sunscreen and your crew.
Shark Species Caught from Gulf Shores Beaches
Bull Sharks
Bull sharks are the most common big shark on Gulf Shores trips. The Mobile Bay outflow brings nutrient-rich water past Gulf Shores, and bulls follow the bait. They run 4 to 8 feet on our trips, hit baits hard, and fight straight up. Peak bull season is May through October.
Hammerhead Sharks
Great hammerheads patrol the deeper edges within kayak-deployment range, following stingray migrations during summer months. A 10-foot hammerhead from Gulf Shores sand is a real target on the right day.
Blacktip Sharks
Blacktips are fast, athletic, and they jump. They run 3 to 6 feet and provide consistent action across the season. Great species for first-time anglers.
Spinner Sharks
Spinner sharks earn their name by jumping and spinning multiple times during a fight. Gulf Shores' clear water makes the aerial show spectacular. Pound for pound, spinners fight as hard as any species we target.
Lemon Sharks
Lemon sharks cruise the shallow sandbars during warmer months. Yellowish body, stocky build, hard pull.
Tiger Sharks
Tiger sharks are the apex predator on the list. They run 8 to 12 feet when we catch them from shore. Rare on any given trip, but Gulf Shores has produced tiger catches in our 12 years.

Where We Fish on Gulf Shores Beaches
We set up at public beach access points along the Gulf Shores coastline. Common zones include:
- Gulf Shores Public Beach: Easy logistics, close to vacation rentals, productive sandbar structure right off the sand.
- Gulf State Park Beach: Quieter sand, good water clarity, consistent shark activity along the second sandbar.
- Lake Shelby area: Less crowded, productive across all seasons.
- Eastern Gulf Shores toward Orange Beach: Strong sandbar structure, often the best option during peak summer when central Gulf Shores fills with vacationers.
Every Coastal Worldwide trip is land-based. We do not run boats or offshore charters. Beach access, kayak bait deployment, real Gulf Coast sharks from the sand. That is the entire model and it is built on 12 years of beach experience.

Conservation: Catch and Release
We practice safe catch and release shark fishing for conservation. Every shark we land on a Gulf Shores trip is brought in fast, measured in the surf, photographed, and returned. We release most sharks. A small number are kept under FWC regulations when legal. Our conservation messaging stays honest.
Conservation-minded catch and release shark fishing, fun for the entire family. That is the framing of every Coastal Worldwide trip on Gulf Shores beaches.
