Destin's Emerald Coast beaches drop into deeper water within kayak-deployment range of dry sand. That means real sharks are within reach without a boat. Henderson Beach State Park to the east and the public beach accesses in central Destin offer productive sandbars and clear water visibility. The bottom structure attracts bait, and the bait attracts sharks.

Bull Sharks
Bull sharks are the most common big shark on Destin trips. They run 4 to 8 feet, hit baits hard, and fight straight up. Peak bull action runs May through October when water temperatures stay above 80 degrees.
Hammerhead Sharks
Great hammerheads patrol the deeper edges within kayak-deployment range, following stingray migrations during warm months. A 10-foot hammerhead from the beach is a real target on the right day.
Blacktip Sharks
Blacktips are fast, athletic, and they jump. They run 3 to 6 feet and provide consistent action across the season. Great species for first-time anglers.
Spinner Sharks
Spinner sharks earn their name by jumping and spinning multiple times during a fight. The clear Destin water makes the aerial show spectacular. Pound for pound, spinners fight as hard as any species we target.
Lemon Sharks
Lemon sharks cruise the shallow sandbars during warmer months. Yellowish body, stocky build, hard pull. Less common than bulls or blacktips on Destin but a strong catch when they show up.
Tiger Sharks
Tiger sharks are the apex predator on the list. They run 8 to 12 feet from the beach when we catch them. Rare on any given trip, but Destin has produced multiple tiger catches in our 12 years.
Peak Season: May through October
Water temperatures climb above 80 degrees. Shark activity is at maximum. May, June, July, August, and September are our most-booked Destin months.
Shoulder Seasons: March, April, November
Spring brings warming water and active migrations. Fall stays warm longer than expected, and crowds thin out.
Winter: December through February
Bull sharks stay active in cooler water. Our extended 24-hour and 48-hour winter trips have produced our largest sharks. Winter is the great white window from shore.
We set up at public beach access points along the Destin coastline, picking the location based on tide, wind, baitfish reports, and shark activity. Common zones include:
- East Destin near Henderson Beach State Park: Quieter sand, good water clarity, consistent shark activity along the second sandbar.
- Mid-Destin public beach accesses: Easy logistics, close to vacation rentals, productive across all seasons.
- West Destin near Norriego Point: Productive structure, especially during outgoing tides when baitfish move through the area.
- Eastern Walton County (just east of Destin): Less crowded, often the best option during peak summer when central Destin fills with vacationers.

Dusk-to-dawn or dawn-to-dusk coverage. Best for groups chasing the biggest sharks of the season or wanting the full overnight experience.
