Why Choose Beach Shark Fishing with Coastal Worldwide

Shore-based shark fishing is one of the most exciting and accessible ways to battle apex predators. You do not need a boat, you do not need sea legs, and you do not need prior experience. Our guides handle the heavy lifting: deploying baits by kayak hundreds of yards offshore, rigging tackle rated for fish over 500 pounds, and coaching you through every run, every hookset, and every fight.

In 2024, our team landed a 1,800-pound great white shark from the shore at Pensacola Beach. The catch was featured on CBS News and fishing outlets nationwide. See our full press coverage for documented media history. That is the caliber of fishing we aim to deliver. Bull sharks, tiger sharks, blacktips, lemons, blacknose, sandbars, and hammerheads are all regular catches on our trips.

Is This Safe for My Family?

Yes. This is one of the most family-friendly, accessible ways to experience apex predator fishing. Coastal Worldwide carries insurance and is licensed as an LLC. Most beach shark operations are not. That difference matters when your family is on the sand.

We have had 5-year-olds catch sharks with us. We have hosted parties of 50 to 90 for family reunions, corporate outings, birthdays, and bachelor parties. Our guides handle every piece of the operation that could involve risk (bait kayak deployment, leader work at the shoreline, the photo release) and you handle the fun part: the fight.

Insured, licensed, legal, and obsessed with safety on every trip.

What to Expect on Your Beach Shark Fishing Trip

When you arrive at the beach, our guides will already have the base camp set up: rod holders staked in the sand, tackle rigged and ready, and fresh bait on ice. Here is how a typical trip unfolds:

  1. Briefing: Your guide walks you through safety, gear, species you might encounter, and what to do when a shark takes the bait.
  2. Bait deployment: We kayak large fresh baits (bonito, jack crevalle, stingray) 300 to 800 yards offshore and set them at specific depths.
  3. The wait: Relax on the beach, enjoy the scenery, and keep your eyes on the rod tips. When a reel screams, it is go time.
  4. The fight: Your guide coaches you through the fight. Sharks can run hundreds of yards and battle for 10 minutes to an hour. The ultimate test of endurance.
  5. The catch: We safely bring the shark to shore for a quick photo opportunity, then release it back to fight another day.

Shark Species We Catch from the Beach

The Gulf off Pensacola is home to an incredible diversity of shark species. On any given trip, you might encounter:

  • Bull Sharks: Aggressive fighters and our most common big catch. 200 to 400 pounds.
  • Tiger Sharks: The apex predator of the Gulf. These fish can exceed 800 pounds.
  • Blacktip Sharks: Acrobatic, fast, and abundant. Perfect for first-time shark anglers.
  • Lemon Sharks: Strong fighters common in warmer months.
  • Blacknose Sharks: Smaller sharks abundant nearshore, great for newer anglers.
  • Sandbar Sharks: Thick-bodied, hard-pulling sharks common off Pensacola's beaches.
  • Hammerheads and other species: Hammerheads, along with other species, show up across the seasons. Our largest sharks handled on the beach have measured 13 to 14 feet.

We have landed 5 great whites from shore over the life of the operation. Rare anywhere on the planet.

Safe Catch and Release

We practice safe catch and release shark fishing for conservation. Every shark we land comes in fast, gets a quick in-water measurement and photo, and goes right back. We use circle hooks for cleaner releases, heavy leaders to shorten fight times, and trained guides who minimize handling stress. All Florida FWC regulations are followed on every trip.

Conservation-minded catch and release shark fishing, fun for the entire family. That is the framing of every Coastal Worldwide trip.

Beach Shark Fishing Across the Gulf Coast
